Emerging Filmmakers Program
HOLLYWOOD SHORTS launched the EMERGING FILMMAKERS PROGRAM (EFP) in 2001 to extend support and production education, services and mentoring resources beyond the monthly fest and the annual Spotlight festivals. All filmmakers and animators whose films are selected for screening at HS are eligible to participate in our EFP for free. All other filmmakers are able to take advantage of our program for nominal fees.
With the first production of Jordan Freid’s short film NOTE COME DUE, starring Shawn Michael Howard, Phina Oruche, Thom Berry and Terence Evans, the HS/EFP was born. Since then, the HS/EFP has worked with hundreds of filmmakers on their short films and first feature film productions.
In 2010, HS/EFP expanded with more extensive programs, including the launch of the CINEMATOGRAPHER’S LAB in partnership with Panavision. To celebrate Hollywood Shorts 15th season, the new ACTORS LAB was launched in March 2013.
