ANNOUNCES SHORT FILM LINE UP

AFI FEST 2013 presented by Audi, a program of the American Film Institute, announced today the films that will be featured in the New Auteurs and Shorts sections at this year’s festival. AFI FEST will take place November 7 through 14 in Hollywood, California, at the historic TCL Chinese Theatre, the Chinese 6 Theatres, the Egyptian Theatre and the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. 

Short film programs, screening dates and times will be announced on the festival’s website on October 22nd.

SHORTS SELECTIONS

This year’s line up includes 36 short films from 16 countries

HOLLYWOOD SHORTS returns to IFFLA – Apr 9 – Arclight

HOLLYWOOD SHORTS is honored to return for the fourth year as a Presenting Host of the 2013 INDIAN FILM FESTIVAL OF LOS ANGELESIFFLA is one of our favorite local fests, and we are excited to serve as the official host of SHORT PROGRAM #2.  This year is extra special, as festival director Christina Marouda and her team celebrate the 10th anniversary of the festival.

Stay tuned over the next few weeks as we share more background on the selected filmmakers in this wonderful program.  The program will screen twice over the week of the fest, which runs at the Arclight in Hollywood from April 9th to April 14th.

Tribeca Film Festival selects 60 short films for 2013

 March 11, 2013 — Tribeca Film Festival announced their 2013 slate of Short Film selections today – 60 shorts are in the line up, including 60 World Premieres representing 19 countries.  This year’s thematic programs feature 8 sections:  5 narrative, 2 doc and an experimental block.  The narrative program “DEADBOLT” is filled with vampires and werewolf genre shorts and the annual New York – centric program is called “UNLIMITED RIDE” .  One of the two documentary sections “HISTORY LESSIONS” is exclusively World Premieres – first time that has happened in a TFF shorts program.  Here is a link to this year’s Official Selections.

“It’s wonderful to be able to introduce so many new films  to an audience for the very first time,” said Sharon Badal, TFF Director of Short Film Programming and Initiatives. “These short programs run quite the emotional gamut and we look forward to surprising our moviegoers with some very unique stories this year.”

The shorts program will also host a very special screening of The Battle of AmFAR, with a “Tribeca Talks After the Movie” post-screening discussion.  This new documentary is by Two-time Academy Award®-winner Rob Epstein and his longtime collaborator Jeffrey Friedman, the creative forces behind The Celluloid Closet.  The film tells the story of the extraordinary moment when Dr. Mathilde Krim and Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor launched the country’s first AIDS research foundation. The fight against HIV/AIDS would never be the same.  The talk after the screening features special guests Dr. Mathilde Krim, Elizabeth Taylor’s daughter-in-law, Aileen Getty, global health consultant & activist Regan Hofmann, and AmfAR CEO Kevin Robert Frost to discuss the exciting strides medicine has taken in AIDS research development. Moderated by amfAR chairman (and iconic fashion designer) Kenneth Cole.
